Competence analysis of executives
BludauPartners offers its clients individual and customized solutions in management diagnostics: Proven executive assessment methods enable a systematic approach to examining an organization and its management levels to identify unused potential and derive possible needs for reorganization. Within the service portfolio of BludauPartners, the Executive Assessment modules can be combined with the Executive Search process on the one hand and with the Executive Development modules on the other: In Executive Search, individual assessments are carried out when filling a management position to determine the most suitable personality from several internal and / or external candidates through an independent, second opinion, thus ensuring optimal success in filling the position.
In Executive Development projects and/or programs, the Executive Assessment modules are applied as part of a systematic analysis of the potential to derive further measures for executive development. Situations that place new demands on management due to planned strategy changes are highlighted. These requirements must be brought into line with the capabilities of the executives.
The process steps
Understanding needs
At the beginning of an executive assessment or management audit - in the course of an intensive discussion between the client and BludauPartners - the basic objectives, the requirements of a project and the project organization are agreed upon. In addition to the content and the time schedule, all deadlines are set.
The concrete requirements
Based on the preceding briefing interview, the consultants of BludauPartners draw up a competence profile that contains the elementary requirements and success factors of the project. On the one hand, the focus is on the technical and content-related competencies of a position, and on the other hand on the soft factors and skills of a manager. In addition, the corporate goals and visions as well as the culture and environment of an organization are also taken into account to be able to accurately determine the relevant success factors.
The transparent approach
In the next step, the managers to be audited are informed about the objectives and the project organization already defined. In this phase, the involvement of all participants is a crucial factor for success, so the assessment procedure is approached with a positive attitude. The handling of all confidential, personal information must also be defined before the procedure is carried out.
The main part
After the candidates to be audited have been informed about the general conditions, the actual executive assessment procedure follows at the fixed dates. This consists of three core elements, which are individually adapted and supplemented by further modules if required.
Personality tests
Using a scientifically valid and proven psychometric personality test, BludauPartners consultants obtain a first impression of the personality profiles and behavioral patterns of the candidates to be audited. The choice of personality test depends on the requirements and the objective of the assessment procedure.
In-depth interviews
The main component of the BludauPartners Executive Assessment is an in-depth interview lasting several hours, which - in order to ensure objectivity - is conducted by two experienced consultants. In addition to behavioral patterns in past situations, expectations for the future, social components, personal characteristics and competencies are analyzed. If similar behavior patterns occur repeatedly, this can be an indication that candidates will react similarly in comparable situations in the future.
References and 360° feedback
Through references and 360° feedback, BludauPartners' consultants are able to further consolidate the impression gained so far, but also to assess the candidate's ability to integrate into the existing team. Since the limits of the upstream personality test and the interview lie in the assessment of leadership behavior, the interaction with the direct professional environment and the interaction in the (future) team represents a decisive component of the BludauPartners Executive Assessment. Here, the focus is not only on recording and condensing various opinions, but also on carrying out a cross-check of the analysis results from the interview.
The substantiated conclusion
After a successful completion of the Executive Assessment process, a comprehensive report of each participant is prepared. This contains an individual description of the candidate with the essential information gained from the psychometric personality test, the interview and the references. The report is supplemented by a comparison between the company or the position-specific competency model and the individual profile.
Supplementary the experienced consultants of BludauPartners derive a report on the entire organization, as they - due to the numerous interviews and reference discussions - receive not only the information about the considered candidates but also a multitude of hints about the cooperation of the acting executives as well as the current situation of the company.
